Illustration Competition Submission Guidelines
Luain Press invites illustrators to submit original artwork for a chance to be featured in Lemonade Grenade, an upcoming poetry collection by Hayley Lynn Gordon. Seven winning illustrations will be selected for inclusion in the book.
About the Project
Lemonade Grenade is a poetry collection exploring themes of tenderness, volatility, resilience, and transformation. Illustrations must be inspired by one of seven selected poems, which will be available below these guidelines.
Each winning illustration will correspond to one poem.
Eligibility
Contestants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.
Artists from all locations are welcome to apply.
Submission Requirements
Artwork
Illustrations must be original works created specifically in response to one of the seven poems.
AI generated material will not be accepted.
Illustrations must be in black and white.
You may submit more than one entry, including multiple interpretations of different poems.
The final book size will be 5 x 8 inches. Artists must be conscious of this trim size when composing their illustrations (including margins, detail scale, and orientation).
Entries should be submitted in standard illustration file formats commonly used for professional submissions (e.g., high-resolution image or print-ready formats).
How to Submit

Attach your illustration files to the email.
Include a separate Word document (.doc or .docx) containing:
A brief artist bio
Date of birth
Contact information (email and/or phone number)
Mailing address
Please clearly indicate which poem each illustration is inspired by.
Deadline
All submissions must be received by April 1, 2026.
Late submissions will not be considered.
Selection & Prizes
Seven winning illustrations will be selected.
Each winner will receive:
A free copy of Lemonade Grenade
A one-year Luainatic Pro subscription
Winning artists will be contacted directly via the information provided in their submission.
Data & Privacy
Personal data associated with unsuccessful submissions will be deleted no later than one week after the winners have been selected.
Data for selected artists will be retained only as necessary for publication and prize fulfillment.
Rights
By submitting, artists confirm that their work is original and that they hold the rights to the submitted illustration. Selected artists grant permission for their winning illustration to be reproduced in Lemonade Grenade and related promotional materials, with credit. Please find the seven prompt poems below. Please be advised that some of the poems contain mature content (18+).
