We'd like to extend our thanks to those who came to the Community Centre in Letterkenny for the auditions of our radio adaptation of Niall Gallen's play, Meenuiscebán. This radio adaptation will be aired on Highland Radio to commemorate the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival's tenth anniversary.
While several of the cast's positions have been filled, there are a number of roles that are still available. These include...
Elizabeth Grant: a Ms Doyle-type character; a no nonsense Donegal mammy; sharp, witty, but also loving. Elizabeth's character is an older lady, aged 50+.
Paige Kennedy: a young American woman in her mid-twenties. Paige is from Chicago, is polite and mannered, but she also has seductive qualities. A lively and authentic American accent is essential for this role.
A publican and/or pub customer(s). These roles are reserved for males. The publican is a loud and lively character. The customers are easy-going characters that are largely used for comedic effect. They have raw Donegal accents and should ideally be older men (40+).
Wiggy: Wiggy is an eccentric farmer who sports a wig. He is a raw Donegal man with a simple, friendly nature, though there is a lascivious touch to his character. Despite being liked by the locals of Meenuiscebán, he is often the subject of jokes and is prone to being mocked behind his back.
