A Message From Andy Porter...

Rhyme, Rhythm and Spoken Word!

Neighbour's Got a New Hot Tub Book Launch
At the Barrow Pavilion, July 24th
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Some of you may already know that as well as documenting the adventures and misadventures of Barrow's Chumpers and Buzzards over recent years, I also write poems. Most (but not all) are humorous - think the unlikely offspring of a liaison between Pam Ayres and John Cooper Clarke. It started during the lockdown, around 5 years ago, and there has been a steady stream since.

I sent a selection to a small publishing house in Ireland [that's us!] for a competition at the end of last year and was astonished, but delighted, when they said they liked them and that they'd like to publish them as a book. This is being launched on July 24th and, when the publisher asked where I'd like to launch it, Barrow seemed like the natural choice. It should be fun, with two brilliant spoken word artist friends travelling over from Dublin for the evening [Ryan Duggins and Leon Dunne], who have also promised to do a few poems.

If you're around, you're welcome to come along. If you've not experienced a spoken word event before you may be surprised by how powerful the words can be in a live environment. I promise you will be entertained. Facilities on the evening will be limited but you're welcome to bring your own drinks and glasses. Hope to see you there!
